The workshop is part of the triennial
FoCM conference series, organized by
the Society for Foundations of Computational Mathematics
hosted by the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, July 4-14, 2011.
This interdisciplinary workshop brings together experts from applied and computational mathematics,
control theory, statistical physics, algorithms, collective robotics and distributed optimization.
They all share a common interest in the theoretical and quantitative description of collective phenomena
such as flocking and social aggregation in physical, natural and engineered systems
